كثيرًا ما تشبعت برائحتك ،ومشاهدة سلالتي تتلون بلونك الأحمر وأنت تعتليهم ذات اليمين وذات الشمال .فيزداد المريدون سكرًا ،وما أكثرهم ! وما أكثر الشائعات عنك …

لماذا انفض عنك المريدون ؟!

لماذا انطفئ لونك الأحمر ؟!

غابت رائحتك ،واحتفظت سلالتي بلونها الأسود

أعلنت الكلاب الصيام! ، انهارت الهدنة بين القطط والفئران!

أكاد أجن ..

كيف اخترق كل هذه الحواجز بعين واحدة …ووصل إليك؟!

أاغراك كما فعل مع غيرك ببريقه الزائف ؟!

فأراد قلب الميزان ؛ليستمتع بانعكاس ظله على أبي الهول ..

ساعيًا لانهيار مأذنته العالية ..

عندها… تصبح رائحتك كريهة لا يطهرها فحم العالم الأسود ..

 

 

 

مقدمة :-

إن القصة في تعريف( طه وادي) “هي تجربة أدبيةتعبر عن لحظة في حياة إنسان، وتقوم على التركيز والتكثيف

ولا يهتم القاص بالتفاصيل”

ويعرف( كانط) الحداثة ” بأنها خروج الإنسان من حالة الوصاية التي تسبب فيها بنفسه، والتي تمثل عجزه عن استخدام فكره دون توجيه من غيره ” أي أنها استخدام العقل ، وإعلاء الفكر والاهتمام بالتلميح لا التصريح ، مع الدقة والربط بين العناصر،

وبالجمع بين التعريفين السابقين نجد أن القصة القصيرة الحداثية، ترتكز على آليات التكثيف ، ومخاطبة العقل وإثارة الذهن ، وإعمال الفكر مع تواجد العاطفة دون طغيانها ..أن يتعايش المتلقي مع القصة بفكره ووجدانه، ليصل إلى مغزاها ، عن طريق الربط بين الأحداث والقراءة الواعية .

 

 

فهل تندرج قصتنا هذه تحت مسمى الحداثة أو مابعدها وإلى أي مدى تحقق فيها ذلك ..؟

في ماهية العنوان ،ودلالته”

إن للعنوان دوره المؤثر في النص ؛ فلم يعد العنوان مجرد كلمات ،تقال في بدايته ، إنما أصبح جزءًا من النص لا ينفصل عنه ،بل هو عتبة رئيسة من عتباته، وهو نص مصغر يدل على النص الأصلي ، وكلما كان العنوان مؤثرًا في عاطفة المتلقي ويثير فكره ،كان ذلك محفزًا له على قراءة النص واكتشافه..

لهذا ظهر حديثًا ” علم العنونة ” ودراسات كثيرة أشهرها

دراسات الكاتب الناقد “ليو هويك”

العنوان هنا “انعكاس “..عنوان يتكون من كلمة واحدة لكنها تحمل دلالات كثيرة ، وتوحي بالأثر المادي والمعنوي ،

فانعكاس الضوء هو ارتداده عندما يصطدم بسطح عاكس .

وانعكاس الفعل هو أثره ونتيجته ، وفلكل أمر انعكاسه وأثره

على الحياة والفرد ..

وانعكاس الظل ..هو الأثر السيء والجانب المظلم الذي يريد

الآخر أن يفرضه ؛ليتحكم ويفرض نفوذه وسيطرته؛ ليعيش الآخرون أسرى ظله ..

 

 

ومن هنا فالعنوان شائق ،وشائك ، يبعث تساؤلات عدة ،ويثير

في النفس أطروحات كثيرة ، ممايثير ذهن القارئ ويجذبه

لاكتشاف النص ،وسبر أغواره ، وتوضيح معالمه..

من حيث المضمون وفنيات القصة “

نحن أمام قصة لها أبعاد عدة منها البعد الاجتماعي ،البعد الاقتصادي ، والبعد السياسي..فهي تعتمد على “الانثروبولوجيا “. ومكاشفة الواقع ..من خلال السرد التخيلي ،والمشهدية وأنسنة الآشياء ..

ينتمي النص إلى “مابعد الحداثة ” ؛حيث نجد تعدد الدلالات ..العمق الأيديولوجي ، التشظي داخل النص ، كما نجد التداخل ..إعلاء الفكر ، استخدام النسق المغاير ،والاعتماد على الرمز والتناص والتساؤل والتصوير ، اعتبار المتلقي جزءًا من النص . ..الفوضوية …عدم الاعتماد على حدث محدد بل نجد تداخل الآحداث ..فضاء الزمان والمكان ..

النص بدأ بتساؤل ..ليثير ذهن القارئ ويشركه في النص

“هل المسافة بيننا كما هي ؟!

أي المسافات يقصد هل المسافة الرياضية ،أم المسافة المعنوية ، أم يقصد صعوبة الوصول إليها ، ثم بيننا …بين من ، ومن ؟…

سؤال يوحي بالتعجب والنفي ..

 

ومن هذا التساؤل يبدأ الصراع المادي والنفسي ..وإثارة ذهن المتلقى؛ لاكتشاف ماهية السؤال ..

ثم نجد اللهفة والرغبة في الفوز بنظرة خاطفة ..وكأنه يريد النظر إلى محبوبته ..أو إلى شئ مقدس ..

وونجد ذلك قوله :-

“سأكون محظوظًا إذاظفرت بنظرة خاطفة من خلف المريدين ،وأنت معلقة في الأعلى .”

فكلمة المريدين ..تدل على القدسية والبعد الصوفي والعشق .

الروحي ..وكذلك قوله وأنت معلقة في الأعلى ..

ثم يأتي الكاتب بما يشير إلى..مقصده مستخدمًا اللون ،والحركة ، والبعد الصوفي ..والتعجب ..

فيقول :-

كثيرًا ما تشبعت برائحتك ،ومشاهدة سلالتي تتلون بلونك الأحمر وأنت تعتليهم ذات اليمين وذات الشمال .فيزداد المريدون سكرًا ،وما أكثرهم ! وما أكثر الشائعات عنك …

الرائحة ..اللون الأحمر …وأنت تعتليهم ، ذات اليمين وذات الشمال ..يزداد المريدون سكرًا ..تداخل بين الرمز والإيحاء والتلميح والتناص ..والارتباط النفسي الروحي ..

 

 

لكل كلمة دلالتها وإيحاؤها ..ورغم التفكيك الظاهر فإن هناك رابط يجمعها …؛ لنكتشف أنه يتحدث عن اللحوم ..التي هي عنصر رئيس في غذاء الإنساس وبعض الحيوانات ….

هنا يستخدم الشاعر ..الآنسنة ..ودقة التصوير والإيحاء ..

فيخاطبها فهي الحاضر الغائب ..

الحاضرة في النفس والرؤية والتمني الغائبة في التناول..

فهي القريبة البعيدة ..

ثم يوجه الكاتب لها أسئلة ..تبعث على التفكر وتثير الذهن ..

فيقول :-

“لماذا انفض عنك المريدون ؟!

لماذا انطفئ لونك الأحمر ؟!

غابت رائحتك ،واحتفظت سلالتي بلونها الأسود

أعلنت الكلاب الصيام! ، انهارت الهدنة بين القطط والفئران!

أكاد أجن ..”

يستمر الكاتب في تساؤلاته ..مستخدما كاف الخطاب ..

“عنك ..لونك ” لاستحضار صورة المخاطب ..وتعميق الأثر

فقد ابتعد عنها المحبين ..في إشارة إلى ارتفاع ثمنها …

كما انطفأ لونها الأحمر في إشارة لضعف جودتها ..

فنحن في أزمة اقتصادية أخلاقية ..من نتائجها صراع الإنسان من أجل البقاء ، وصراع الحيوانات ، فالكلاب أعلنت الصيام. وانهار السلام بين القطط والفئران ..

صراع الذات والبقاء ..فقد صار الحصول على الطعام هو منتهى آمال الجميع..

ثم ينتقل بنا الكاتب إلى الحديث عن شيء آخر يبدو بعيدًا

من حيث اتساق القصة ، ولكنه هو أصل لكل مشاكلنا في مقدمتها المشاكل الاقتصادية والاجتماعية والسياسية ..

يعود للتساؤل عن كيفية اختراقه الحواجز وهو بعين واحدة ..في تلميح وإشارة إلى الدولار ..والعين الواحدة

رمز للهيمنة والسيطرة ودقة النظرة ، لهذا نجد أن العين الواحدة رمز الماسونية ..توجد على الدولار ..

فيقول الكاتب “

“كيف اخترق كل هذه الحواجز بعين واحدة …ووصل إليك؟!

أأراك كما فعل مع غيرك ببريقه الزائف ؟!

فأراد قلب الميزان ؛ليستمتع بانعكاس ظله على أبي الهول ..

ساعيًا لانهيار مأذنته العالية ..

عندها… تصبح رائحتك كريهة لا يطهرها فحم العالم الأسود .”.

بكلمات موجزة ..يلخص الكاتب الوسيلة ..والغرض..والأثر

فالوسيلة التي يستخدمها الدولار ..الإغراء ونلحظ بريقه الزائف ..والغرض -يعكس ظله على أبي الهول -السيطرة على الجنيه ..وانهيار الاقتصاد ، وانهيار الهوية والأخلاق

ثم الأثر “عندها… تصبح رائحتك كريهة لا يطهرها فحم العالم الأسود .”.

عودة لما بدأ..واستمرار الخطاب ..فهنا التنبيه واستشراف المستقبل ..والتحذير ..مستخدمًا عبارات مؤثرة

رائحتك كريهة …لا بطهرها فحم العالم الأسود….

فالأمر هنا تجاوز اللحوم إلى ما هو أعم وأشمل ..فالمعني بعيد ….

قصة تتسم بالإيجاز ،والعمق الفكري والفلسفي..زاوية واحدة

يتسع معها المشهد ليكون هو الخاص والعام ..ويكون هو التاريخ والهوية والقيمة والحياة ..

 

الانعكاس هنا انعكاس ظل ..فهو يعكس الجانب المظلم ، الإنانية والشر ، الرغبة في هدم الآخر ..والسيطرة عليه

ليعيش في ظله تحت طوعه ..

من حيث اللغة والأساليب والصور “

استخدم الكاتب اللغة السهلة ، الواضحة ،لكنها تحمل عمقًا فكريًا ،تميل إلى الإيحاء وتعدد الدلالات ، لغة سلسلة لكنها غير مباشرة المعنى؛ فهي تهيم في دوائر الإسقاط ، الرمز ، التاريخ ،الماضي والحاضر ، الحوار التخيلي ..

التكثيف والسخرية ..التحذير واستشراف المستقبل ..

استخدم الكاتب الأسلوب الخبري للتقرير والتأكيد.

مثل :- سأكون محظوظًا إذاظفرت بنظرة خاطفة من خلف المريدين ،وأنت معلقة في الأعلى ./ كثيرًا ما تشبعت برائحتك ،ومشاهدة سلالتي تتلون بلونك/”غابت رائحتك ،واحتفظت سلالتي بلونها الأسود “/أعلنت الكلاب الصيام! ، انهارت الهدنة بين القطط والفئران/

ونجد شيوع الأسلوب الإنشائي ..فاعتمد على الاستفهام كثيرًا ..للتنبيه وإثارة الذهن ،وإشراك المتلقى الحالة والرؤية

فنجد:- هل المسافة بيننا كما هي ؟! التعجب والنفي /

لماذا انفض عنك المريدون ؟!

لماذا انطفئ لونك الأحمر ؟!

التحذير والتعجب /

كيف اخترق كل هذه الحواجز بعين واحدة .؟! التعجب ..

أاغراك كما فعل مع غيرك ببريقه الزائف ؟!للتأكيد واللوم ..

ونجد الصور المرئية..الممزوجة بالرمز والإيحاء.والتناص ؛ لتقرب المشهد وتصور جانبيه النفسي والفكري ..

فنجد “سأكون محظوظًا إذاظفرت بنظرة خاطفة من خلف المريدين ،وأنت معلقة في الأعلى .”/”أعلنت الكلاب الصيام! ، انهارت الهدنة بين القطط والفئران ” ./كيف اخترق كل هذه الحواجز بعين واحدة/ فأراد قلب الميزان ؛ليستمتع بانعكاس ظله على أبي الهول ..ساعيًا لانهيار مأذنته العالية ../

تصبح رائحتك كريهة لا يطهرها فحم العالم الأسود ../

صور رائعة مؤثرة ..

فالكاتب هنا يستخدم التفكيكية في النص ، تعدد الدلالة ومنح القارئ دورًا حيويًا ؛لاكتشاف النص وإعمال ذهنه .فهو بذلك يشرك القارئ معه ؛ليعيد المتلقى تفكيك النص مرة أخرى من أجل اكتشافه وتحليله.

ونجد تأثير ما بعد الحداثة ، في الفوضوية ،والتصوير ، توظيف الرموز داخل القصة والتناص ؛لمحاكات المشاهد بصورة غير مباشرة من خلال تلك الرموز المتداخلة في النص ، وبتراكيب مختلفة ،وبتقنية خاصة .

إن هذا الإحياء الانتقائي لمجموعة عشوائية من الرموز والصور والدلالات التي ترتبط به، أحد أهم مظاهر ما بعد الحداثة.عند الكاتب .

كما أنه يجمع بين جمال اللغة ودقتها وعمقها الدلالي وبين فنيات القصة الحداثية ؛ ونهج مابعد الحداثة ..

توظيف الحركة واللون داخل القصة”

نجد الحركة داخل النص ، والدراما التصاعدية ..واستخدام اللون الأحمر ، الأسود ،

 Is the distance between us still the same?

I shall be lucky to win a glance from behind the followers while you are hanging high above.

I have often got full with your odour, and with watching my progeny adopting your red colour as you are mounting over them on the right and left. Hence, the followers get more drunk. How numerous they are! And how numerous rumors about you are!

Why have your followers deserted you? Why has your red colour got switched off?

Your odour has vanished, and my progeny have restored their black colour.. Dogs have declared fasting, and the truce between cats and mice has collapsed.

I am nearly driven crazy.

How has he managed to breach all these hurdles with one single eye, and get to you?

Has he tempted you with his fake glamour as he has done with many more like you?

Wishing to turn the balance and enjoy his shadow's reflection on the sphinx.

Seeking to topple down his lofty minaret.

Then, your odour shall become so abhorrent that the world reserves of black charcoal will fail to purify it.

Introduction

A story can be defined, according to Taha Wadi, as a "literary experiment that reflects a moment in man's life, based on concentration and condensation.

A story writer does not care much about details.

Kant defines modernism as a man's getting rid of the state of guardianship, of which he himself is the cause and which represents his inability to make use of his own thinking without being supervised by others. In other words, it is the use of mind, the exultation of thinking and the adoption of implicit rather than explicit methods, along with being precise and linking elements.

Bringing the two above-mentioned definitions together, we realize that the modernistic short story is based on mechanisms of condensation, mind addressing and brain stimulation, the use of thinking and moderate invocation of emotions. It is also based on triggering the reader's mental and emotional catharsis with the story, so that he can get to its significance, by correlating its events with conscious reading.

So,  does the term 'modernism' or 'post-modernism' apply to the story in question? And to what extent?

The title's significance

 

A title plays an influential role in a text. For, it is no longer a mere set of words mentioned in a text beginning. It has become an integral part of it, one of its main points of access. It is, in short, a mini-text within the original one. The more influential a title is on the reader's emotions and thoughts, the more motivating it is for him to go on delving into the text.

Hence, the term 'headlining' has appeared recently in many studies, the most popular of which is  the French critic Gerard Genette's 'Thresholds of Interpretation', and also the studies of the author and critic Leo Hoek.

The title here is 'Reflection'. It is a one word title. Yet, it is a word that contains numerous significances and implies an impact that is both material and spiritual.

Light reflection refers to its rebounding when it bumps into a reflecting surface.

An action reflection, however, is its impact and effect, for every action has an impact and effect on an individual's life.

Similarly, a shadow reflection refers to bad impact and dark side that the Other wishes to impose so that he can get in control and have everything under his sway and authority. Hence, all the others shall remain prisoners in his shadow.

Therefore, the title is both exciting and complicated. It triggers a lot of inquiries and prompts many theses in the mind. Hence, the reader's curiosity is invoked and tempted to try and explore the text and delve into it in order to discover its milestones.

The content and artistic aspects of the story.

 

We are dealing with a multidimensional story. It has a social dimension, an economic one and a political one. For, it relies on anthropology and reality exploration through imaginary narration, scenery and personification. The text belongs to postmodernism due to its multiple meanings; such as the ideological depth, fragmentation within the text, as well as overlapping, upholding thoughts, the use of various patterns, relying on symbolism, intertextuality, questioning, depicting and considering the receiver as part of the text. Add up to this, chaos and overlap between various events rather than a definite single one, and finally space and time.

The text begins with an inquiry to instigate the reader's thinking and bring him in to take part in the text.

 Is the distance between us still the same?

What distance does he refer to? Is it the athletic distance or the spiritual one? Or does he refer to the difficulty of covering it. Then what does 'between US' stand for? Between whom and whom?

It is a question that implies both wondering and negation.

From such a question, the material and mental conflict starts. Brainstorming the reader to explore the significance of the question.

Then we notice the eagerness and the desire to win a glance. As if he wants to look at his sweetheart, or rather to a sacred object. We find this in his saying; "I shall be lucky to win a glance from behind the followers while you are hanging high above.".

The word 'followers' signifies sacredness, mysticism and spiritual adoration. And the same can be said about his saying; " while you are hanging high above."

Then, the writer brings about what refers to his intentions using colour, motion, mystical dimension and exclamation. He says; "I have often got full with your odour, and with watching my progeny adopting your red colour as you are mounting over them on the right and on the left. Hence, the followers get more drunk. How numerous they are! And how numerous rumors about you are!"

The odour.. the red colour.. you are mounting over them.. on the right and on the left.. the followers get more drunk. Overlapping symbolism, implication, hint, intertextuality and spiritual and psychological entanglement.

Each and every word has its significance and implication. Despite the apparent disentanglement, there is a common link that brings them together. We find out he is talking about meat which is an essential food element for man and for some animals.

Here the poet makes use of personification, and precise depiction and implication.

He addresses her, for she is present and absent at the same time.

She is present in the soul, vision and wishes, and absent because she is out of reach. She is both close by and far away

The writer, then, asks her questions that trigger pondering and stir the mind.

He says; "Why have your followers deserted you? Why has your red colour got switched off?

Your odour has vanished, and my progeny have restored their black colour.. Dogs have declared fasting, and the truce between cats and mice has collapsed. I am nearly driven crazy.".

The writer goes on with his inquiries using the pronoun 'you'. "About you.. your colour" are phrases to invoke the addressee and deepen the impact.

For, she is deserted by her lovers, and this refers to her price rising.

Also, her red colour is off, and this points to her poor quality.

We are enduring an economic and moral crisis, Some of whose results are man's and animals' struggle for survival.

Dogs have declared fasting and peace between cats and mice has collapsed.

The struggle of the self for survival. Since obtaining food has become everybody's dearest wish.

Then, the writer moves on to talk about something else that seems to be more profound in terms of the story's coherence; yet, it is the origin of all our problems, especially the economic, social and political ones.

He starts wondering again how he can breach the barriers with one eye. This is a hint to the dollar. Besides, the one eye is a symbol of hegemony, dominance and visual precision, and it is, therefore, the symbol of freemasonry, and it exists on a dollar bill.

The writer asks; "How has he managed to breach all these hurdles with one single eye, and get to you?

Has he tempted you with his fake glamour as he has done with many more like you?

Wishing to turn the balance and enjoy his shadow's reflection on the sphinx.

Seeking to topple down his lofty minaret.

Then, your odour shall become so abhorrent that the world reserves of black charcoal will fail to purify it."

In brief words, the writer sums up the means, purpose and impact.

For, the means that is used by the dollar is temptation. We can pinpoint its fake glamour. And the purpose -by reflecting his shadow on the Sphinx- is bringing the Pound under control, the economic slump and the collapse of identity and morals. Finally, the impact: "Then, your odour shall become so abhorrent that the world reserves of black charcoal will fail to purify it."

Starting all over again, the discourse goes on. Here is the warning and the forecast of the future conveyed in affective phrases.

"Your odour shall become so abhorrent that the world reserves of black charcoal will fail to purify it."

This goes beyond meat to something more comprehensive. The meaning is more profound.

It is a story characterized with concision and philosophical depth. One  angle through which the scene stretches out to be both special and general, and become history, identity, value and life.

The reflection is that of a shadow, as it reflects the dark side; selfishness and evil, the wish to destroy the Other and put him under control, so that he will live in one's shadow and be always at his beck and call.

 

Language, styles and images

 

The language used by the writer is simple and clear,  but it conveys profound thoughts and is inclined to be implicit and full of significances. It is a smooth but indirect language based on projection, symbolism, history, the past and present, imaginary dialogue, condensation, satire, warnings, future forecasting.. etc

And the style opted for by the writer is mainly affirmative but emphatic, as in these excerpts:

I shall be lucky to win a glance from behind the followers while you are hanging high above. / I have often got full with your odour, and with watching my progeny adopting your red colour. / Your odour has vanished, and my progeny have restored their black colour../ Dogs have declared fasting, and the truce between cats and mice has collapsed.

We find the composition style very common in the text, as in the use of interrogation, alert, brainstorming, the reader involvement, state and vision..

As in:

 Is the distance between us still the same? (Exclamation and negation)

Why have your followers deserted you? Why has your red colour got switched off? (alert and exclamation)

How has he managed to breach all these hurdles with one single eye? (Exclamation)

Has he tempted you with his fake glamour ? (Emphasis and blame)

We also find visual symbolic images, implication and intertextuality aimed at clarifying the scenes and depicting both their psychological and intellectual aspects.

This can be found in:

 I shall be lucky to win a glance from behind the followers while you are hanging high above. / Dogs have declared fasting, and the truce between cats and mice has collapsed./ How has he managed to breach all these hurdles with one single eye? / Wishing to turn the balance and enjoy his shadow's reflection on the sphinx. Seeking to topple down his lofty minaret. /your odour shall become so abhorrent that the world reserves of black charcoal will fail to purify it.

 

Splendid and affective images.

 

The writer here uses the disentanglement technique in the text as well as multiple meanings. He gives the reader a vital role in exploring the text by the use of his mental abilities. Thus, he involves the reader in dismantling the text again aiming at analysing it and discovering its secrets.

We trace the influence of postmodernism in chaos, depiction, symbolism, intertextuality. The purpose is to simulate the scenes indirectly through the intermingled symbols in the text using different compositions and special techniques.

This spontaneous revival of a random group of symbols, images and significances related to the text is one of the most important aspects of postmodernism for the writer.

Also, he combines the beauty, precision and semantic depth of the language used with the techniques of the modernistic story and postmodernist methods.

 

The use of motion and colour within the story

 

Motion can be found within the text in its mounting drama and the use of the red and black colours.

It is, indeed,  a mind-blowing text with its multiple implicit significances. For true creativity depends on implicit rather than explicit methods.
